Hello, and welcome! No, not to my collection of antiquities, I’m afraid, but instead my collection of memories and accounts of a year (and a bit) spent living inside a dream. Or to put it more plainly, everything I learnt from a year (and a bit) of visiting Punchdrunk’s The Burnt City.
On this site you will (hopefully) find (almost) everything you could ever need to know about the production and its history – please know this is an ongoing project, currently manned by a team of one very passionate fan, and although I have fortunately accrued a wealth of experiences and knowledge from my many visits, I regretfully neither know nor have experienced everything this wonderful production had to offer, and thus there will be gaps. Nonetheless, I hope I am able to provide not only a solid resource for those who never got a chance to fall in love with this beautiful show, but also some nostalgia, humour and levity for those of us fortunate enough to have ventured into the darkness time and time again, before finally being pushed back out into the light one final time.
Above you can navigate through the panel to find individual pages covering the following:
Introduction: Background context of the show, along with summaries and descriptions for everything pre and post show (anything not confined within a set loop) – ideal reading for those unfamiliar with The Burnt City, or the general Punchdrunk show layout
Residents: Summaries of Every Character, Performers Who Played Them, Generalised Loop Accounts (incl. 1:1 details), Performer Specific Loop Write-Ups (based on my follows) and Audio Loop Tours
Locations: Detailed Accounts (with accompanying photos) of each room/space, and their contents
Performers: Biographies of every performer (core cast and guests), including their show stats and past Punchdrunk credits
Special Events: Detailed Accounts (with accompanying photos) of VIP experiences and one-off events, held at One Cartridge Place
And that’s about it, for now – so please, enjoy what I have collated, and do reach out to let me know if you can fill in any gaps where I have indicated more information would be useful. Additionally, I have tried to accumulate as much photo evidence from within the show as possible, and in doing so have amassed a whole heap of files now unlabelled and unsourced, so if any of your photos are featured here please do let me know and I will add your credit to the Contributions page. Thank you, and enjoy!
Off you go. Don’t look back. Never look back.
